Light duty wrecker: Used primarily for automotive and light trucks with non-rear-axle-related breakdown issues. May be used for small units such as van conversions, small import chassis, etc. May be utilized for light winching depending on configuration. Generally limited to 4,000 to 6,000 lbs towing capacity. Rear wheels usually remain on roadway during transport. Axles may need to be pulled.
Medium duty wrecker: Used primarily for small to medium Class C RVs and lighter Class A RVs with non-axle-related breakdown issues. Towing capacity is generally up to 25' and between 6,000 and 12,000 lbs. May be utilized for medium to heavy winching depending on configuration. Rear wheels usually remain on roadway during transport. Axles may need to be pulled.
Heavy duty wrecker: Used primarily for large Class C RVs and almost all Class A RVs with non-axle-related breakdown issues. Towing capacity is usually 25' and longer, 12,000 lbs and up. May be utilized for medium to heavy winching depending on configuration. Rear wheels usually remain on roadway during transport. Axles may need to be pulled.

Lowboy/Landoll transport (Flatbed trailer): Used primarily for heavy vehicle transport that requires all wheels to be off of the ground, in such cases as wheel bearing/axle failure, damage due to accident, fire, etc. Vehicle is completely loaded on towing vehicle for transport. Does not require axle removal (usually). These flat bed trailers come in several configurations and may or may not have winching capabilities. Towable weight and length limitations are dependent on specific equipment. (May require O.D. permits for larger units)
